Macroscopic description of particle systems with nonlocal density-dependent diffusivity.

چکیده
In this paper we study macroscopic density equations in which the diffusion coefficient depends on a weighted spatial average of the density itself. We show that large differences (not present in the local density-dependence case) appear between the density equations that are derived from different representations of the Langevin equation describing a system of interacting Brownian particles. Linear stability analysis demonstrates that under some circumstances the density equation interpreted with the Ito calculus has pattern solutions that never appear for the kinetic interpretation, which is the other one typically appearing in the context of nonlinear diffusion processes. We also introduce a discrete-time microscopic model of particles that confirms the results obtained at the macroscopic density level.

Phase Segregation Dynamics in Particle Systems with Long Range Interactions. I. Macroscopic Limits
We present and discuss the derivation of a nonlinear nonlocal integrodifferential equation for the macroscopic time evolution of the conserved order parameter p(r, tl of a binary alloy undergoing phase segregation. Our model is a d-dimensional lattice gas evolving via Kawasaki exchange dynamics, i.e., a (Poisson) nearest neighbor exchange process, reversible with respect to the Gibbs measure fo...

Abstract. Many fundamental phenomena in nature are described by usually nonlinear partial differential equations derived in a rather phenomenological way. Perhaps the most known ones are the Bolzmann equation, the Navier-Stokes equation, the reaction-diffusion equation, Fisher’s equation, Vlasov’s equation, etc. These equations describe a substance, e.g. gas or liquid, as a whole, without expli...

We consider an open one dimensional lattice gas on sites i=1,..., N, with particles jumping independently with rate 1 to neighboring interior empty sites, the simple symmetric exclusion process. The particle fluxes at the left and right boundaries, corresponding to exchanges with reservoirs at different chemical potentials, create a stationary nonequilibrium state (SNS) with a steady flux of pa...
متن کاملNonlinear driven diffusive systems with dissipation: fluctuating hydrodynamics.
We consider a general class of nonlinear diffusive models with bulk dissipation and boundary driving and derive its hydrodynamic description in the large size limit. Both the average macroscopic behavior and the fluctuating properties of the hydrodynamic fields are obtained from the microscopic dynamics. This analysis yields a fluctuating balance equation for the local energy density at the mes...
